ECOLOGICAL POLICY OF GEORGIA IN THE CONTEXT OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Summary

The work analyzes the ecological policy formation in Georgia in the context of sustainable development from the beginning of the post-Communist transformation to the present and its current condition is assessed.

It has been revealed political and economic circumstances that hinder the establishment of effective ecological policies, the use of natural resources and the mechanism of rational regulation in the field of environment protection. It is noteworthy that ecology still does not have a proper place in the country's political and economic priorities, which will result in further deterioration of ecological conditions in Georgia.

Sustainable development is analyzed as a new challenge and paradigm for Georgia and the difficulties that are related to its trajectory. Due to the current situation, the main theoretical and practical ways of ecological policy formation in the context of sustainable development in Georgia are offered.
